Hi. You're here? Cool. I won't keep you long. But here's the thing: There's so much good music out there. You've heard lots of it. And you know much of it. They play some of it on non-commercial radio stations (like WXPN). They play some of it on old school commercial radio stations. You can find some on Spotify and other digital platforms. But there's lots of really great songs out there that we all miss. Or forget about. And I'm here to remind you - - or introduce you - - to some of the great songs (so I think) that you might want to hear. One song at a time. Starting today.
So, here it is: Song One. "Dearest" by Buddy Holly. When I did my first spin as a guest DJ on XPN, "Dearest" was the first song that I played. It's sweet, sentimental and pure as the driven snow. Buddy recorded it in 1958 in his apartment at 11 Fifth Avenue (Apt 4H) in New York City. Here it is.
